Producer Trick to Finding Tempo & Key to a Song or Acapella track: If you can't find a plugin use a free old/new copy of Fruity Loops: In the channel rack (center/ StepSequencer) right click the main button of any instrument & select load sample at the drop down- select the sound file to your song or vocal track to load it, now that becomes the button instrument. Click it & go to the sound wave at the bottom & right click it & select detect tempo on drop down. Hip hop might be under 100 bpm select 50-100 if dance select 100-200 will help find the exact tempo. For pitch key you right click the sound wave & select 'edit' then right click the sound wave there and choose 'regions' then-'detect pitch regions'-then use your mouse wheel upward to zoom in on the regions and the more common notes will appear giving you an idea of the major chord so you can better work in vocals or accompanied loops fitting your proper chord

In the digital age, the fastest and most accurate way to find the tempo of a song is to use a smartphone app that allows users to tap the beat they hear on the screen of their phone. The app analyzes the pace of the tapping and displays a tempo in BPM.
